This walking tour explores David Bowie's life and career across London. Starting in Brixton, his birthplace, you'll see his childhood haunts and where fans paid tribute after his death. Then, it's on to central London to visit locations that inspired his music and career, like the street where he once slept and famous music venues he frequented.

David Bowie - A London Boy!

Date Unavailable

A boy born in post-war Brixton would go on to become a global superstar, with a legacy that portrays him as one of the planet’s most influential and much loved musicians.

My David Bowie London Tour will explore his south-London roots giving an insight into his early family life as David Jones, before we set off to Mayfair and Soho to link together his extraordinary working and social life in the music hub our capital city.

Rob Woodford with guests at Soho Lofts.

Our walkabout in Brixton and Stockwell not only has a focus on his personal connections with this vibrant neighbourhood as a young lad growing up, but also showcases the area’s rich heritage and its diverse cultures appreciated today.

Brixton is quite rightly proud of its Bowie-links, and we shall also get close and personal to those sites where his fans gathered to celebrate his life and music after his passing, including the impromptu street parties.

This 4-Hour experience includes a short tube journey (guests just need a travel card or a form of contactless payment) into Central London (only 5 stops northbound on the Victoria Line) to arrive at Oxford Circus.

Black plaque dated 1972.

In Mayfair we shall recreate the scene of one of the most famous and iconic album front and back covers of all time, and take in a wall plaque dedicated to a fictional character, who was one of Bowie’s many on-stage personas.

The buzz that is Soho provides us with many Bowie-themed locations, such as a street where he slept overnight in a van during the years of struggle trying to become a star, the clubs and pubs where he socialised, the famous street where he picked up the latest fashions, a venue where he had a residency while trying to make the big breakthrough, or a studio where he recorded demos and another where he recorded his best-selling albums.

Our journey will include multiple presentation stops, with all the facts and amusing anecdotes - enhanced with images to jog your memory, but with also some great music to remind you of the legend that was David Bowie.

Our customers say...
"This was my first time on a London guided tour – we did the James Bond tour around Whitehall/Embankment/Pimlico. It was great fun seeing all the locations that have appeared in the 007 films. Rob came armed with a folder full of pics from the films so you can see exactly how the locations appeared in the scenes. His knowledge is brilliant, and he dropped in some general historic info about the areas we walked through. A lovely way to spend a few hours seeing the sites."

"A group of us did Rob's James Bond walking tour recently. At a relaxed pace he packed in a load of info about 007 and the London locations of the JB movies. Rob was very personable and knowledgeable on his subject. He involved us by asking questions about Bond, who our favourite Bond actor was etc. But he was also able to answer just about all of our questions that we asked him. I was a cold winter's day, so I was happy that he ended the tour in a warm pub!"
